Qatar has lost a leader of a unique caliber and a towering symbol distinguished by foresight and wisdom with the passing of the Amir Emeritus, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. This profound tragedy is not confined to the Qatari people alone; the Kuwaiti people and the broader Gulf and Arab peoples share with their Qatari brothers their feelings of grief and sorrow over the loss of this great figure of the nation.
Kuwait has announced a four-day period of mourning, with flags flown at half-mast both domestically and at Kuwaiti embassies abroad, following the death of the late Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, may God have mercy on him.
It was evident to every observer and interested party how the late leader dedicated his life to serving his country and people, as well as the causes of the Arab and Islamic nations, standing by them and defending them. His positions were admired and welcomed by all who are committed to the interests of Arabs and Muslims.
The Kuwaiti people still proudly recall the stances of sisterly Qatar and the late leader, may God have mercy on him, toward our beloved homeland and in support of our just causes during the Saddam occupation period. All Gulf brothers, particularly Qatar, served as a steadfast support, ally, and defender of Kuwait, its people, and its rights.

The late leader was one of Qatar’s historic figures and the architect of its modern renaissance. During his tenure, Qatar attained a high standing in Arab and international arenas. A broad economic and cultural renaissance took off, and his name became associated with the most significant transformation in the country’s modern history. He led the project that elevated the state to the status of a regional and international actor, transforming Qatar into an advanced nation capable of achieving sustainable development and ensuring a dignified standard of living for its people, generation after generation.
We ask God Almighty to envelop the late leader, His Highness the Amir Emeritus Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, in His boundless mercy, forgiveness, and pleasure, and to grant him a place in His spacious Paradise among the righteous, the martyrs, and the truthful. What excellent companions they are. We extend our sincere condolences to sisterly Qatar, its leadership, government, and people, for their immense loss.
