Hamad bin Khalifa: The Statesman and Architect of the Renaissance

With the passing of His Highness the late Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Qatar, the sister nation, has lost one of its most prominent leaders, whose name is closely associated with a major transformative phase in the country’s history. He assumed national responsibilities early on, serving in various roles including command of the Armed Forces and holding the position of Crown Prince, before ascending to the throne in 1995. He then voluntarily transferred power to His Highness Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in 2013, a move that reflected a belief in leadership renewal and state continuity.

During his years in power, Qatar experienced a comprehensive renaissance that included the development of state institutions, the adoption of a permanent constitution, the launch of Qatar National Vision 2030, and investments in education, scientific research, and infrastructure. In addition, it consolidated its economic, diplomatic, and media presence on the international stage, becoming a model for a small country with grand ambitions and significant influence. He also paid close attention to sports, culture, and humanitarian work, thereby enhancing Qatar’s standing in various global forums.

The Kuwaiti-Qatari relationship has remained a model of sincere Gulf brotherhood, based on mutual respect, shared destiny, and continuous coordination. During the late Emir’s reign, it witnessed close cooperation milestones that strengthened the historical ties between the two brotherly peoples, leaving the relations between the two countries as an example of Gulf integration and solidarity.

May God have mercy on the late Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, forgive him, and reward him abundantly for what he contributed to his nation and the Ummah. May He admit him to the vastness of His Paradise, and grant his noble family and the Qatari brotherly people beautiful patience and solace. “Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.”
