The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wahayb, chaired the State of Kuwait delegation at a meeting held via video conferencing with Dr. Ramih bin Mohammed Al-Ramih, Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistics, and Eng. Suhail bin Mohammed Abanmi, Governor of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The meeting was held to enhance cooperation in road transport and customs coordination between the State of Kuwait and the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Kuwaiti delegation included Yusuf Al-Nuwaif, Head of the General Customs Administration; Saleh Mohammed Al-Omar, Deputy President for Customs Research and Investigation Affairs; Brigadier General Abdullah Al-Ajmi, Director General of the General Administration of International Relations; several security and customs leaders; and a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the outset of the meeting, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior conveyed greetings from the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousif, emphasizing Kuwait’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of road transport.

Major General Al-Wahayb also expressed Kuwait’s gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the significant facilitations provided in the movement of goods through land border crossings, particularly in light of the current regional circumstances, which underscore the deep-rooted fraternal relations between the two countries.

The meeting discussed operations at land border crossings and the movement of goods between the two countries, reviewing the capacity of the crossings and the number of loaded trucks crossing daily, according to customs statistics. It also addressed existing procedures and ways to develop them to keep pace with the growing volume of trade. Furthermore, both sides discussed mechanisms to enhance joint coordination and address any obstacles that might affect the smooth flow of transport without compromising customs and regulatory requirements.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and holding regular meetings to enhance the efficiency of operations at land border crossings and serve the interests of the two sister countries.
