Minister of Housing Follows Up on the Progress of Drinking Water and Sewage Projects in Several Governorates
Cairo - Nadeh Imam: Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, monitored the executive status of several projects under the presidential initiative “Hayat Karima” (A Decent Life), implemented by the National Authority for Drinking Water and Sanitation, as well as the authority’s investment plan projects in the governorates of Port Said, Sohag, Minya, and Asyut.
The Minister of Housing emphasized that the ministry prioritizes the implementation of drinking water and sanitation projects, particularly those under the presidential initiative “Hayat Karima,” due to their transformative impact on the level of services provided to citizens in rural Egypt. She stressed the necessity of accelerating implementation progress and fully adhering to technical specifications and schedules, ensuring project completion in accordance with the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
The minister received a report on the results of field monitoring conducted by officials from the National Authority for Drinking Water and Sanitation regarding several projects. The report indicated that in Port Said Governorate, Eng. Essam Abdel Hamid, Head of the Central Administration for Implementing Eastern Bahr Projects, inspected the West Port Said Desalination Plant project. He also monitored expansion projects at the Bur Safa Wastewater Treatment Plant, the sewage system for Al-Diba village, and the Al-Dawahi pumping station, in the presence of Eng. Asmaa Nasr Shokri, Head of the Executive Agency for Drinking Water and Sanitation Projects in Port Said Governorate. It was reaffirmed that obstacles must be swiftly resolved and technical standards strictly observed.
In Sohag Governorate, Eng. Ashraf El-Sayed, Head of the Central Administration for Training and Head of the Executive Unit for the project providing drinking water to 240 deprived villages under the authority, conducted a field tour to inspect drinking water stations, accompanied by Eng. Ahmed Hassan, Head of the Executive Agency for Sohag Governorate. The tour included inspections of northern Sohag stations, namely Sheikh Zain El-Din, Umm Duma, Al-Zahra, Banja, Anabis, and Ali bin Abi Talib, as well as southern Sohag stations, including the Al-Harja Qibli water station. It was noted that operational testing continues at the Al-Zahra water station, with three consecutive samples obtained in preparation for preliminary handover and entry into active service. The implementing companies were directed to intensify workforce deployment and increase execution rates at other stations.
In Minya Governorate, Eng. Najah Abdel Rahman, Deputy Head of the Central Administration for Implementing Upper Egypt North Projects (Minya-Asyut) at the authority, monitored the progress of work on projects under the presidential initiative “Hayat Karima,” in the presence of Eng. Manal Hussein, Head of the Executive Agency for Drinking Water and Sanitation Projects in Minya Governorate. The tour included inspections of the Deir El-Bersha Wastewater Treatment Plant, with a capacity of 15,000 to 20,000 cubic meters per day, serving the villages of Deir El-Bersha, Deir Abu Hennis, and Sheikh Abada; the Deir Abu Hennis pumping station; the Sheikh Shubayka Wastewater Treatment Plant, with a capacity of 40,000 to 70,000 cubic meters per day, serving 21 villages in the Malawi district; and the Delja Wastewater Treatment Plant, with a capacity of 15,000 cubic meters per day, serving the villages of Delja and Za’ira in the Deir Mawas district.
