East Port Said Port Receives the Ship "GENCO LION" at the "Sky Ports" Terminal Berth

Cairo - Nahd Amam: The General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone announced that the Port of East Port Said received the vessel “GENCO LION,” arriving from the port of Nouadhibou in Mauritania. The ship docked at the Sky Ports multi-purpose terminal berth to unload a cargo of iron ore weighing approximately 173,000 tons. This move reflects the continuous development of the port’s operational capabilities and the readiness of its infrastructure to accommodate modern generations of dry bulk carriers.

The vessel belongs to the Capesize dry bulk carrier category, measuring approximately 292 meters in length and 45 meters in width, with a draft of up to 17.7 meters. These specifications confirm the availability of suitable depths, as well as the efficiency of the port’s quays and infrastructure, alongside the operational readiness of the Sky Ports multi-purpose terminal.

This reception underscores the growing capacity of the Port of East Port Said to handle vessels of diverse sizes and cargoes, thereby enhancing the port’s status as a pivotal hub for international trade and supporting the competitiveness of Egyptian ports.

The arrival of the vessel comes amid the continuous operational successes achieved by the Sky Ports multi-purpose terminal at the Port of East Port Said throughout 2026, following the reception of the vessels “MATHILE OLDENDORFF,” measuring 300 meters in length, and “MV PAROSHIP,” measuring 292 meters in length. This reflects the growing confidence of global shipping lines in the port’s operational capabilities and the readiness of its infrastructure to accommodate vessels of various categories and sizes.
