World leaders and heads of state have offered condolences to Qatar, extending their sympathies to the Emir, the government, and the people of the country, following the passing of its distinguished former leader, His Highness the Amir al-Dawla Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, praising his merits and his pivotal role in building the nation.
His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, sent a message of condolence and sympathy to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, regarding the death of the former Emir, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, may God have mercy on him.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted the King as saying, “We learned with profound sorrow of the news of the passing of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, former Emir of the State of Qatar, who gave much to his country and people. As we convey to Your Highness, your family, and the brotherly people of Qatar our deepest condolences and sincere sympathies, we pray to Allah, the Exalted, to envelop him in His vast mercy and forgiveness, grant him a spacious place in Paradise, and inspire you with patience and solace, and protect you from all harm. Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.”
His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, also sent a message of condolence and sympathy to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, regarding the passing of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, may God have mercy on him.
The Crown Prince stated, “I received the news of the passing of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, former Emir of the State of Qatar, with deep sadness and grief. He played a prominent role in the renaissance and prosperity of our brotherly State of Qatar. I convey to Your Highness and the family of the deceased my warmest condolences and sincerest sympathies, praying to the Almighty God to envelop him in His vast mercy and forgiveness, grant him a spacious place in Paradise, and reward him abundantly for what he contributed to his people and his country, and to protect you from all harm. Indeed, He is All-Hearing, All-Responsive.”
For his part, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, offered condolences to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, and the Qatari people, on the passing of the late, by God’s will, His Highness the Amir al-Dawla Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, praying to God to envelop him in His vast mercy, grant him a spacious place in Paradise, and inspire his noble family and the brotherly Qatari people with patience and solace.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, also sent similar messages of condolence to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the brotherly Qatari people, regarding the passing of their dear late Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Writing on the “X” platform, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid stated, “My sincere condolences to my brother Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the brotherly Qatari people on the passing of their dear late, and our collective late, the Amir al-Dawla Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, may God have mercy on him, and grant him a spacious place in Paradise, and inspire the people of Qatar and all his loved ones with patience and solace. Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.”
For his part, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan said, “Our condolences to our family in Qatar, to my brother His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and to the noble Al Thani family, on the passing of the late, by God’s will, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. We ask God to envelop him in His vast mercy and inspire his family, relatives, and the brotherly Qatari people with patience and solace.”
The United Arab Emirates announced official mourning and the lowering of flags within the country and at all its embassies and diplomatic missions abroad for four days, in honor of the late prominent figure of Qatar.
Similarly, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq sent a message of condolence and sympathy to his brother, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, regarding the passing of his father. The Sultan expressed his sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the Emir and all members of the brotherly Qatari people in this great calamity, praying to the Almighty God to envelop the deceased in His vast mercy and pleasure, grant him a spacious place in Paradise, and inspire them with beautiful patience and solace.
The Bahraini Royal Court mourned the passing of the prominent late figure of Qatar, His Highness the Amir al-Dawla Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. In a statement, the Court said that by order of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, “the Royal Court mourns the late, by God’s will, His Highness the Amir al-Dawla Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who passed away after a life full of giving and achievements in service of his people, his Arab and Islamic nation, and in support of their causes. He was, may God have mercy on him, a wise leader who dedicated his life to serving his people, his nation, and humanity, expressing our sincere condolences to our brothers, the noble ruling Al Thani family, and the dear people of Qatar.”
The statement added, “The Kingdom of Bahrain, pained by this severe calamity, expresses its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathies to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the brotherly State of Qatar, the noble Al Thani family, and the government and people of dear Qatar, praying to the Almighty God to envelop the deceased in His vast mercy, grant him a spacious place in Paradise, and inspire the Al Thani family and the brotherly Qatari people with patience and solace.”
The Royal Court also announced that, based on the order of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa, a decision was issued to declare official mourning and lower flags in the Kingdom of Bahrain for four days, starting yesterday.
In Egypt, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi expressed sincere condolences and sympathies to Qatar, extending them to the Emir, the government, and the people. The Egyptian President stated in a post on his official social media page, “Sincere condolences and sympathies to our brotherly State of Qatar, to the Emir, the government, and the people, on the passing of the late, by God’s will, His Highness the Amir al-Dawla Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. We ask God to envelop him in His vast mercy and to perpetuate security and stability for Qatar and its people.”
Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa offered condolences, stating in a condolence message published by the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA): “I extend my sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathies to my brother His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and to the brotherly State of Qatar, its government and people, on the passing of His Highness the Amir al-Dawla Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. We ask God to envelop him in His vast mercy and forgiveness, grant him a spacious place in Paradise, and inspire his noble family and the brotherly Qatari people with patience and solace.”
Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani sent a similar message, stating, “I extend my sincere condolences to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and to the ruling family and the brotherly Qatari people, praying to God to envelop the deceased in His vast mercy and to inspire everyone with patience and solace.”
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun expressed his sorrow and grief over the passing of the former Emir of Qatar, noting that his departure was a great loss for the brotherly State of Qatar, Lebanon, and the Arab world. He said, “Lebanon, in its presidency and people, remembers with appreciation and loyalty the sincere fraternal positions expressed by the great deceased towards it.”
Aoun highly appreciated the initiatives launched by the late leader in the field of reconstructing Lebanese villages and towns damaged by the war, a step that embodied the depth of Arab solidarity and a sense of responsibility, leaving a lasting impact on the hearts of Lebanese people.
Internationally, King Charles III of the United Kingdom and Queen Camilla expressed their profound sadness over the passing of His Highness the Amir al-Dawla Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. They praised the late Amir’s years of distinguished service to the State of Qatar, emphasizing that his vision, leadership, and commitment to the welfare of the Qatari people were widely appreciated within Qatar and at the international level.
For his part, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, “I received the news of the passing of my dear friend, the Amir al-Dawla of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, with deep sadness and grief.” Erdoğan added via the “X” platform, “I pray to the Almighty God to envelop Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani in His vast mercy. I had the honor of working closely with him on many international issues. Sheikh Hamad played a prominent role in elevating political, commercial, military, humanitarian, and cultural relations between Turkey and the State of Qatar to their current level. His sincere efforts for the peace of the Islamic world, the stability of our region, and the welfare of the Qatari people were evident.”
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered sincere condolences to the Emir of Qatar, all members of the ruling family, and the people of Qatar, praying to God to envelop the deceased in His vast mercy and grant him a spacious place in Paradise.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed his deep sadness upon hearing the news of the passing of His Highness the Amir al-Dawla Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, describing him as a visionary leader who spoke for his nation and people, in a post on his official “X” account.
For his part, Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy shared the grief of Qatar’s leadership, government, and people in this painful calamity, recalling with appreciation the deceased’s historical contributions to the renaissance of the State of Qatar, and his prominent role in supporting the course of joint Arab action, enhancing Arab solidarity, and serving Arab and Islamic causes. He prayed to the Almighty God to envelop the deceased in His vast mercy and forgiveness, grant him a spacious place in Paradise, and reward him abundantly for what he contributed to his homeland and his nation.
Arab Parliament President Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi expressed sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the State of Qatar. Al-Yamahi affirmed that the deceased consolidated the path of comprehensive development and renaissance in the State of Qatar, and played a prominent role in supporting joint Arab action and serving Arab causes and defending them, leaving a significant political and developmental legacy at the Gulf, Arab, and international levels.
He affirmed the Arab Parliament’s full solidarity with the State of Qatar in this painful calamity, praying to the Almighty God to protect the State of Qatar and its people, and to perpetuate security and stability upon them.
