The Emir: I have lost a dear brother and a great leader

His Highness Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad sent a message of condolence to his brother, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the sisterly State of Qatar. In his message, His Highness expressed, on his own behalf and on behalf of the Kuwaiti government and people, profound sorrow and grief, and offered sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to His Highness, the esteemed ruling family, and the brotherly Qatari people upon the passing of the late, may God have mercy on him, His Highness the Amir, the Father of the Nation, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, may God have mercy on his soul. His Highness affirmed that the State of Qatar, the Gulf family, the Arab and Islamic nations, and the world have lost a great leader and a towering symbol distinguished by foresight and wisdom, who dedicated his life to serving his country and people, as well as the causes of the Arab and Islamic nations, standing by them and defending them. His Highness noted that he has lost a dear brother with whom he shared a special relationship characterized by affection and love. His Highness added that the State of Kuwait and its people, who are pained by this tragedy, will always proudly recall the positions of the sisterly State of Qatar and the late, may God have mercy on him, toward Kuwait, and their support for its just causes during the Iraqi occupation. His Highness also praised the comprehensive developmental renaissance and significant progress in various fields achieved by the sisterly State of Qatar during his blessed reign, which elevated it to the ranks of advanced countries. He prayed to Almighty God to envelop the late, His Highness the Amir, the Father of the Nation, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, in His boundless mercy, forgiveness, and pleasure, and to grant him a spacious place in Paradise among the righteous, the martyrs, and the truthful, and what excellent companions they are. He also prayed that God grant His brother, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the esteemed ruling family, and the brotherly Qatari people beautiful patience and good consolation.

The Amir ordered the declaration of mourning and the lowering of flags for four days following the passing of the late, may God have mercy on him, Amir, the Father of the Nation, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

The following was received from the Diwan Amir:

“In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. By order of His Highness Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad, official mourning and the lowering of flags within the country and at Kuwait’s embassies abroad are declared, starting from yesterday, Sunday, for a period of four days, in mourning for the passing of the late, may God have mercy on him, His Highness the Amir, the Father of the Nation, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. We ask Almighty God to envelop the deceased in His boundless mercy and forgiveness, to grant him a spacious place in Paradise, and to reward him abundantly for what he contributed to his nation.”
