President of the Arab Media Excellence Award: The Integration of Artificial Intelligence Contributes to Enriching the Award's Competitions

Talal Al-Haifi, Chairman of the Committee for the Arab Media Excellence Award, stated that the inclusion of artificial intelligence as a category in the award has enriched the competition and added a new dimension to the entries submitted for the award, which is presented by the Arab League under the patronage of the State of Kuwait.

This comment was made by Al-Haifi to journalists following his chairing of the award’s judging committee meeting at the Arab League headquarters, representing the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information.

Al-Haifi explained that the selection of artificial intelligence as a theme for the 10th edition was driven by the growing presence of this technology and its impact on media transformation and the development of media content. He noted that the award has gained significant media momentum throughout its history through increasing participation and submissions, highlighting that the current edition recorded 154 diverse media entries across television, print journalism, and other media fields.

He affirmed that the participating entries would be evaluated by a judging committee comprising a select group of media professionals and experts, clarifying that the selection of winning works would follow criteria ensuring transparency and objectivity. He considered the committee’s contribution as part of activating the award’s role in keeping pace with the transformations witnessed by Arab media, shedding light on new technologies and leveraging them in a manner consistent with Arab values.

For its part, the Arab League praised the State of Kuwait’s patronage and support for the Arab Media Excellence Award, which is annually presented to winning works in the media field. It announced that the current edition of the award received 154 nominations, the highest number of participations since its launch in 2016.

This was stated in a speech by Ahmed Khatibi, Assistant Secretary-General for the Media and Communications Sector at the Arab League, during the opening of the award’s judging committee session, chaired by the State of Kuwait and represented by Talal Al-Haifi, Director of Al-Arabi Channel at the Ministry of Information, with representatives from Egypt, Yemen, Mauritania, Morocco, Syria, and Libya participating.

Khatibi clarified that cooperation with the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information has contributed to the development of the award, with one of its most notable initiatives being the establishment of a board of trustees comprising a select group of Arab media experts, aimed at consolidating the principles of governance, quality, and credibility in evaluating participating entries and enhancing the award’s status in line with developments in the media landscape.
