"The Big House" – The Voice of the Family

Mufreh Al-Shammari As social changes accelerate and sources of influence within the family multiply, Kuwait Radio continues to offer programs that rely on conscious discourse and meaningful dialogue. Among these is “Al-Bayt Al-Kabir” (The Big House), which airs live on the General Program channel every Saturday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., addressing issues affecting families and society in a language accessible to the public, with participation from a select group of specialists across various fields.

The program focuses on discussing topics related to parenting, family relationships, children’s challenges, and societal behaviors, alongside providing insights and practical solutions to help families cope with the rapid changes imposed by contemporary life, foremost among them the impact of technology, social media, and intellectual and cultural shifts.

“Al-Bayt Al-Kabir” constitutes a space for responsible dialogue. It does not merely raise issues but opens the floor for experts to offer scientific insights and real-life experiences that contribute to raising public awareness and consolidating a culture of calm dialogue, thereby reinforcing the role of radio media as an active partner in building society, rather than just a medium for conveying information.

The importance of this type of program becomes evident amid the recurring challenges facing families, which call for reliable media platforms that provide purposeful content enhancing values, bridging perspectives, and supporting family stability as the fundamental pillar for building a cohesive society.

The program is produced by Layla Al-Jaridi Al-Azmi and Hussein Numan, presented by Nawaf Al-Qattan and Hanan Al-Gharib, with Ghazlan Al-Khalfan handling coordination and follow-up. Meshal Al-Qahtani oversees radio engineering, Abir Al-Mutawa manages execution, and Mishari Al-Rabiah directs the program.

“Al-Bayt Al-Kabir” affirms that radio remains capable of reaching and influencing audiences whenever it delivers content that resonates with reality and places family issues at the forefront of attention. Meaningful dialogue remains one of the most important tools for enhancing awareness and keeping pace with the transformations society is undergoing, in line with the national role played by Kuwait Radio in serving individuals and families.
