Kuwait Investment Company Organizes Workshop on Accounting Standards Updates

In line with its commitment to supporting group companies and enhancing their readiness to keep pace with professional and regulatory developments, the Kuwait Investment Company, in collaboration with the Investment Companies Union, organized a specialized workshop on the latest updates to accounting standards, with the participation of chief financial officers from group companies. This initiative stems from the company’s dedication to supporting its subsidiaries and fostering coordination among them, in alignment with the rapid developments in the regulatory environment and the directives of the Capital Markets Authority, and to contribute to improving the efficiency of applying best practices in financial reporting and disclosure.

The workshop covered several key updates to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), foremost among them IFRS 18, which pertains to presentation and disclosure in financial statements. The session outlined the main new requirements, their implementation mechanisms, and their implications for the preparation and presentation of financial statements, thereby enhancing the quality and transparency of financial reports and elevating the level of financial disclosure in accordance with international standards.

The workshop featured interactive discussions among participants, addressing the main practical challenges associated with implementing the new standard, alongside an overview of professional best practices that can support institutions in efficiently and effectively transitioning to the new requirements.

Kuwait Investment Company emphasized that organizing this workshop is part of its ongoing efforts to provide specialized knowledge platforms for group companies, promote the exchange of expertise, and keep abreast of the latest professional developments.
