“Al-Tamyeez” supports a four-year prison sentence for a military officer and a citizen for joining “ISIS” and insulting the Emiri Diwan

Kuwait officials confirmed that the Court of Cassation yesterday upheld a four-year prison sentence for two citizens, after rejecting appeals filed by them and by the Public Prosecution, rendering the verdict final and binding.

The Public Prosecution had charged the first defendant, a military officer at the Ministry of Defense, with joining the ISIS terrorist organization, harming the country’s national interests, and misusing a communication channel.

The second defendant was accused of publicly insulting the Amir and affronting the institution of the emirate via the “TikTok” platform, as well as inciting the first defendant, in his capacity as a member of the armed forces, to rebel and harm the state’s national interests, in addition to misusing communication channels.

According to case documents, the second defendant had previously been convicted in cases related to terrorism and weapons training. He also admitted in his statements that he traveled to Syria in 2014 for the purpose of jihad, before Syrian authorities handed him over to Kuwait.
