Defense Minister Discusses with His Congolese Counterpart the Implications of Regional and International Developments on African Security

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, Field Marshal Ashraf Salem Zahir, met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense and Veterans of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ji Kabompo Matadiamvita, and his accompanying delegation, who are currently visiting Egypt. The visit was marked by an official welcome ceremony at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Defense, during which the military band played the national anthems of both countries.

The meeting discussed developments in the regional and international arenas and their implications for security and stability within the African continent, as well as understandings regarding the enhancement of military and security cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces expressed his pride in the shared Egyptian-Congolese relations and the importance of continuing coordination and joint efforts to strengthen ties of cooperation and support across various fields of military collaboration.

For his part, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense and Veterans of the Democratic Republic of the Congo praised Egypt’s efforts supporting all issues concerning the African continent, expressing his aspiration for further coordination on matters of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Ahmed Khalifa, and several senior military commanders from both countries.
