Kuwait welcomes US announcement on initiating procedures to repeal the law designating Syria as a state sponsor of terrorism

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait’s welcome of the United States’ announcement to begin the process of removing the Arab Republic of Syria from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, a designation it had been under since 1979. The Ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s support for all efforts undertaken by the Syrian government to realize the aspirations of the brotherly Syrian people for development and prosperity, and to contribute to consolidating security and stability in the region.
