Syrian Interior Ministry: Damascus Bomb Cell Responsible for Explosion at Ministry of Defense's Ordnance Administration

The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced that ongoing investigations with members of the terrorist cell recently arrested, along with the analysis of technical evidence and the matching of security data, have confirmed the cell’s responsibility for the terrorist bombing that targeted the Arms Management Department of the Ministry of Defense in Damascus last May. The ministry clarified via its official channels that the cell confessed during investigations to carrying out the operation with the aim of targeting public institutions, undermining security and stability, and sowing chaos among citizens. The ministry noted that investigations are still ongoing to uncover all those involved and cooperating with the cell, and to take the necessary legal measures against them. On July 9, internal security forces, in cooperation and coordination with the General Intelligence Directorate, succeeded in dismantling the entire cell responsible for the Damascus bombings, which coincided with the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron, through a series of simultaneous raids targeting their scattered locations in Damascus and its countryside, including Qatifa, Sayyida Zainab, and the Qudsaya suburb.
