Search Underway for Two Suspects Who Robbed a Gold Shop in Jaleeb

The Criminal Security Sector has launched an investigation into unidentified individuals who carried out an armed robbery at a jewelry store in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area, stealing large quantities of gold items, including chains, bracelets, pendants, and other ornaments. A security source confirmed that important leads have emerged that could lead to the arrest of the suspects in a short time. He noted that investigators have circulated descriptions of the stolen goods with goldsmiths across Kuwait’s six governorates, alongside descriptions of the suspects at border crossings to prevent their escape. Descriptions of the vehicle used—a small Japanese car reported stolen by an Asian expatriate—have also been circulated.

The source stated that the suspects exploited the early morning hours when the gold market was devoid of passersby to carry out the robbery. The crime occurred around 8:00 a.m., but it was reported at approximately 11:00 a.m. last Thursday, after an employee arrived at the store to find his colleague bound and unable to move or use his mobile phone. The store management has since inventoried the stolen items to determine their value.

Regarding the full details of the case, a security source said an Asian expatriate reported to the Ministry of Interior’s operations center that he went to his workplace and found his colleague bound, with the stolen items scattered. Security personnel and criminal evidence investigators immediately arrived to collect fingerprints.

The source added: “Upon hearing the victim’s statement, he said that as soon as he opened the store around 8:00 a.m., he saw a woman wearing a niqab, who was later revealed to be a man, along with another masked individual. As soon as they entered, the man in the niqab brandished a firearm, ordered him to remain quiet, and instructed his accomplice to bind him. They then stole the gold ornaments and fled.”

The source continued: “Review of surveillance footage revealed that the pistol used in the crime was a 9mm handgun. Tracking the suspects’ movements showed they were using a vehicle that had been reported stolen, and the vehicle’s license plate was also reported stolen.”

The source noted that the timing and modus operandi of the robbery suggest the suspects planned the crime meticulously, believing it would prevent their capture. However, he emphasized that investigators have multiple avenues to unravel the mystery of the case.
