Disney's Surprise in the Live-Action Version of 'Moana'

Disney has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the live-action version of the film “Moana,” which features a collection of songs from the 2016 animated original, along with a surprise new original song titled “Beyond the Horizon,” coinciding with the film’s theatrical release. Thomas Kail directs the film, while Auli’i Cravalho stars as Moana, and Dwayne Johnson returns to portray Maui. The cast also includes Jemaine Clement, Rachel House, Temuera Morrison, and Nicole Scherzinger. The album revisits songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda in collaboration with Opetaia Foa’i and Mark Mancina. Auli’i Cravalho, who provided the voice of Moana in the animated version, contributes to the new song “Beyond the Horizon,” even though she is not acting in the live-action film, and she also serves as an executive producer. Mark Mancina continues to handle the film’s score, having previously composed the music for the original “Moana” in 2016, as well as for “Moana 2.”
