"Before Noon" Represents Egypt in "Casablanca," "Amman," and "Jerusalem"

The Egyptian short film “Before Noon” (I Owe You A Touch), directed by Marwan El-Shafei, is embarking on an exceptional and distinctive tour of Arab film festivals throughout July. This tour recently culminated in the announcement by the Casablanca Arab Cinema Festival that the film has been selected to compete in the official short film competition, adding this achievement to the film’s key milestones this month, which also include its official participation in both the Amman International Film Festival and the Jerusalem Arab Cinema Festival.

This tour represents a broad Arab celebration of the film, offering it the opportunity to connect with diverse segments of the Arab audience across three different countries, reflecting the human and artistic appeal of its subject matter. “Before Noon” presents a bold psychological dissection of the journey of a teenager named “Saif,” who finds himself trapped by social and cultural constraints that prevent him from exercising his most basic human right to express his grief or to offer a final farewell after a personal tragedy. Saif embarks on a harsh journey in search of a physical “purification” to compensate for his inability to express his emotions.

The film is based on an idea and direction by Marwan El-Shafei, written by Abdel Rahman Jaber, and produced by Alaa Lashin (AH Media Production). It stars Marwan Ashour, Dalia Ramzy, Mohamed Fadel, Ahmed Al-Nabawy, Khaled Al-Basati, Nahla Emad, Hany Aboud, and Hisham Al-Rawi.

The production team includes a group of professionals: Adham Khaled (Director of Photography), Yasser Azmy (Editing), Hisham Atman (Sound Engineering), Riwan Mohamed (Set Decoration), Shady Walid (Color Grading – Shift Studio), and Mohamed Salah (Mixing and Mastering – I SOUND Studio).
