Sand Art from Gaza Carries Message of Appreciation for Hossam Hassan's Stance

In a symbolic artistic initiative reflecting art’s capacity to convey humanistic messages, a Palestinian young man with a missing leg, alongside volunteers, created a work on one of Gaza Strip’s beaches to express his appreciation for the stance taken by Egypt national team coach Hossam Hassan during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to Al Jazeera Live, the phrase “Hossam Hassan… the conscience of humanity” was carved into the sand, in a scene attended by several displaced persons who watched the creation of the artwork and some of whom participated in its execution. The initiative’s organizer explained that the message was an expression of gratitude for the Egyptian coach’s positions, which garnered widespread engagement, noting that they helped shed light on the suffering of Gaza’s residents.

A senior official from the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports also stated that the event aimed to convey a message of appreciation to Egypt, its national team, and the positions expressed by Hossam Hassan during the tournament. The initiative concluded with participants lining up behind the sand artwork in a symbolic scene embodying gratitude and solidarity, as such initiatives continue to highlight art’s role in expressing human emotions and strengthening bonds between peoples.
