Ministry of Commerce Seizes Container for Storage and Refurbishment of Used Tires at End of Week

Faisal Al-Ansari, Director of the Commercial Control Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, announced the seizure of a container used by a resident for storing, refurbishing, and reconditioning used tires. The operation was conducted in cooperation with the Capital Governorate’s Criminal Investigation Department and the Shuwaikh Industrial Police Station.

Al-Ansari explained that, following prior monitoring and surveillance, the Capital Inspection Department managed to seize the container in one of the dirt lots over the weekend. It was found that those operating the facility were storing used tires, cleaning them, refurbishing them, and reconditioning them to appear of higher quality, thereby enhancing their marketability and influencing consumers’ purchasing decisions.

He added that the operation resulted in the seizure of 290 used tires, and legal measures were taken against the violators in coordination with the relevant authorities.

Al-Ansari noted that coordination was carried out with the Kuwait Municipality to dispose of the seized tires at designated landfill sites. Additionally, coordination was conducted with the Ministry of Interior to take necessary action against the expatriate violator, including his deportation.

He emphasized the continuation of inspection campaigns carried out by the Commercial Control Department to detect commercial violations and take legal action against violators, in order to safeguard consumer safety and ensure compliance with approved regulations and requirements.
