Syrian Minister of Culture Mohammad Yassin Saleh has issued an official invitation to Lebanese artist Fadel Shaker following the announcement of his release, as a gesture of gratitude for “his stance in support of the Syrian revolution.”
Writing in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Minister Saleh stated: “The free artist Fadel Shaker wrote the lines of his own freedom with his own hand since he sided with the blessed revolution of the Syrian people. He accompanied its key moments and turning points, and paid a heavy price for his stance. He never lost faith in it, even when many abandoned it.”
He continued: “Today, as Fadel Shaker breathes the air of freedom through his release, the free Syrians who love him and appreciate his authentic stance extend their congratulations to him. We tell him that the theaters of Damascus await his arrival, so that his free voice may resonate, and he may stand among his people and his audience.”
Saleh added: “The Ministry of Culture of the Syrian Arab Republic invites him to visit Syria to honor him and repay his kindness, as befits him and loyal intellectuals with enduring stances.”
The minister concluded his post by emphasizing that “the new Syria does not forget those who supported its revolution, rejoicing when it opened its jasmine and roses after defeating and repelling the criminals and terrorists.”
