Oman reaffirmed its firm commitment to freedom of maritime navigation in accordance with the principles of international law during its participation in the 137th session of the Maritime Organization Council held in London. This was stated in a statement delivered by Engineer Khamis bin Mohammed Al-Shamaikhi, Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Transport, before the organization. Oman emphasized its dedication to the security and safety of international sea routes, the protection of lives, and ensuring the smooth flow of global trade. The Oman News Agency reported that the Omani delegation, led by Al-Shamaikhi, met on the sidelines of the 137th session of the Maritime Organization Council with the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization. The meeting discussed ways to enhance continuous cooperation and coordination between Oman and the organization in the fields of maritime navigation security and safety, marine environmental protection, and strengthening response and coordination to address maritime challenges.
