Qatar’s Foreign Ministry: Attack on the tanker “Al-Rakiyat” while transiting the Strait of Hormuz is unacceptable; we hold Iran legally responsible

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the Iranian attack on the Qatari oil tanker “Al-Rakiya.”

Dr. Majid Al-Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that “targeting the Qatari tanker ‘Al-Rakiya’ as it transited near the Strait of Hormuz constitutes an unacceptable assault on international navigation security and the safety of global energy supplies, and a serious and blatant violation of international law, particularly the rules guaranteeing freedom of maritime navigation and safe passage through international straits.”

Al-Ansari called on Iran to “immediately cease all practices that undermine regional security or threaten the safety of international navigation, and to stop endangering global energy supplies and the resources of countries in the region to serve narrow interests. We hold Iran fully legally responsible for this attack and for any damages and repercussions that may result from it.”
