Trump: Iran will not acquire a nuclear weapon

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed his American counterpart, Donald Trump, upon his arrival in Ankara today, ahead of bilateral talks at the presidential palace in Ankara on the sidelines of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit.

Speaking to journalists during the meeting, Trump said: “We have eliminated Iran’s military capabilities, and Tehran will not obtain a nuclear weapon.”

On the relationship between the two countries, Trump stated: “We will make a decision on selling F-35 fighter jets to Turkey, and our relationship with Ankara is better.”

The US president expressed his disappointment “with NATO,” adding, “I came to the summit because it is being held in Turkey, out of respect for Erdogan.”
