Minister of Development Chairs Kuwait Delegation at Extraordinary Gulf Cooperation Council Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Agriculture and Food Security

Dr. Reem Al-Faleh, Minister of State for Development and Sustainability, chaired Kuwait’s delegation at the extraordinary meeting of ministers responsible for agriculture and food security in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, held on Thursday via video conferencing under the chairmanship of the Kingdom of Bahrain, which holds the GCC presidency.

The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition stated in a press release that the meeting discussed implementing directives from GCC leaders regarding the study of establishing strategic GCC food and essential needs reserves, aimed at strengthening Gulf food security and enhancing the readiness of GCC states to confront challenges and crises related to supply chains.

The statement noted that the meeting adopted its recommendations, which aim to enhance Gulf integration in strategic sectors and strengthen the food security system in GCC countries.

The Kuwaiti delegation participating in the meeting included the Director General of the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (on secondment), the Director General of the Public Authority for Agriculture and Fisheries Resources (on secondment), the Director of the Food Safety Department, and the Director of the Food Security Department.
