Al-Zaidi to Al-Bedoui: GCC States Represent Iraq's Arab Depth

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Al-Budaiwi, held talks on Wednesday with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi on bilateral relations and ways to strengthen mutual cooperation across various fields, in a manner that enhances shared interests and supports the foundations of development and prosperity.

The Iraqi Prime Minister’s Media Office stated in a press release that the discussions took place during Al-Zaidi’s reception of Al-Budaiwi, during which the Prime Minister emphasized his government’s commitment to strengthening ties with Arab Gulf states, which represent Iraq’s Arab depth.

Al-Budaiwi also met on Wednesday with Iraqi President Nizar al-Amidi to discuss ways to develop relations between the GCC states and Iraq across various fields, thereby enhancing shared interests.

In a related development, Al-Budaiwi met with Faqih Zaidan, Chairman of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council, where the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Iraq and the Arab Gulf states in judicial and legal fields.

The Supreme Judicial Council stated in a press release that the meeting was part of Al-Budaiwi’s official visit to Iraq, noting that the talks were attended by Safiya Al-Suhail, Iraq’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

Al-Budaiwi arrived in Iraq on Tuesday, where he held a round of discussions with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein to examine bilateral relations between Iraq and the GCC states.
