Iraqi Prime Minister: We will not allow any weapons to remain outside the framework of law and the state

Baghdad, July 5 (KUNA) – Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Idabi said on Sunday that his government will not allow any weapons to remain outside the framework of law and the state, while emphasizing the importance of developing the Iraqi army into a strong, professional force. The media office of the Iraqi Prime Minister’s Office conveyed in a statement that al-Idabi, during his visit to the Ministry of Defense headquarters, stated that the Iraqi army’s doctrine must be the protection of Iraq and its people, noting the importance of ensuring the army is fully capable of carrying out its duties. He pledged to provide all the resources needed by the military institution to enhance its capabilities. Al-Idabi also affirmed the need to continue combating corruption, eliminating its sources, and building a state governed by the rule of law and justice, where citizens enjoy security and stability. It is worth noting that several Iraqi armed factions have participated in a project to centralize weapons under state control and have handed over their arms to the relevant authorities, while the Iraqi government continues to work within this framework with other factions.
