Turkey and Egypt sign memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation in the use of international transport corridors

Istanbul, July 3 (KUNA) -- Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Turkey and Egypt to enhance cooperation in the use of international transport corridors.
Uraloglu stated in a post on the Turkish social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday evening that he signed the MoU with his Egyptian counterpart, Kamal al-Wazir, following a bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the Fifth Turkish Maritime Summit, hosted in Istanbul on Thursday and Friday.
He added, "Under the MoU, we will take joint steps to enhance the effective use of international transport corridors, foremost among them the Middle Corridor and the Development Road, as well as to boost transit transport."
He continued, "We will also elevate our cooperation in the transport sector by developing Ro-Ro (Roll-on/Roll-off) lines for the maritime transport of land vehicles, facilitating transport operations, and increasing the movement of passengers and goods."
The Middle Corridor connects China and European countries via Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey. It reduces delivery times between Europe and Asia to 15 days and directly links Turkey to 21 countries. The Middle Corridor spans 4,256 kilometers via land and rail routes, in addition to 508 kilometers by sea. (End) T.A. / T.M.A.
